 Formosa Palm Villa |
Most homeowners offer lovely homes at extremely competitive rates. There are, however, a series of questions you should ask when embarking on a villa rental – after all, this is your vacation and you do want to arrive at your vacation home and be disappointed when you open the door and discover that it was not what you expected to find. This is bad for good villa owners, like ourselves, as guests may not feel confident renting a home again in the future.
If you take a look at our Guest Book you will see how many of our guests feel as though they have been treated as personal guests and found the whole experience from first booking our home until the very end of their vacation a wonderful experience and want to return to our home – this is exactly what I strive to achieve and if our guests are happy….. everyone is happy !!

I would suggest you ask the following questions:
1. Is the villa shown on the website the one you will be renting?
2. How old are the photographs on the website?
3. How old are the furnishings/equipment in the house?
4. How large is the pool?
5. Is the pool heated by gas or electricity (gas is the most efficient particularly in the winter months)?
6. Do they have pool door alarms?
7. Is the spa built-in or free-standing?
8. How private is the pool deck?
9. Are there any extras not included, such as cleaning?
10. Do they charge for use of the barbecue?
11. Do they charge for baby equipment?
12. Do they have a local management company?
13. Is the management company on call 24 hours for emergencies?
14. Are there any building works, or road works, going on nearby?
15. Do you need to collect a key from an office (during office hours) or is there an electronic keypad or lock box arrangement?

Homeowners should always be happy to put you in touch with their management company if you have any concerns. Ask for the name, telephone number and website of their management company if you feel you need any reassurances.
A homeowner should always be prepared to answer all these questions – I am and have no problem at all answering as many questions as guests wish to ask. I know how important everyone’s vacation is and it is therefore even more important to me to ensure that our guests have a wonderful time and feel comfortable and confident when booking our home.
One final comment ……. I believe that a lot of homes, like ours, have extremely competitive rates and I would caution guests to be a little wary if offered a home for a very low rate – please remember the expression “if it sounds too good to be true… it usually is!” |
